About this deal

I'm concerned my niece, who's ten and has been raised on the likes of Hannah Montana, has little to no imagination or creativity. I want to find games we can play that will push her thinking out of the Disney drone-mold and I think that Dixit looks perfect for this. However, there's a problem; there are too many versions. The genius of Dixit is the way it forces you to get creative with your clues. It’s easy to get people to guess your card, and it’s easier to get them to guess incorrectly. But making it so only some will guess your card, that’s difficult. In the original rules, the winner is the first player to reach 30 points. In the revised rules, the winner is the player with the most points when the last card is drawn. This gives you a fascinating insight into the way other people think and lets you know which of your friends is crazy. Clue: My relationship with my in-laws It’s a risk

The storyteller looks at the six cards in their hand and selects one, composing a sentence or phrase that might describe it and says it out loud, without showing the card to the other players. [3] The storyteller 's goal is to provide a description that is ambiguous enough that not all other players will recognize the card, yet relevant enough that some will. [4] At that point, there are too many cards to guess, and the storyteller’s card gets lost in the noise. Turning the game from solving a riddle, into wildly guessing. Which ruins the fun. Additionally, you don’t get as many storyteller turns, and for some, that’s the highlight of playing. It’s a great game to play with family, take on holiday, or even down the pub. It’s a very versatile, fun and simple game with huge replay-ability, thanks to the number of expansions you can buy, enabling you to integrate more and more cards, which ultimately means less repetition. Players will even perceive the same card differently to give unique clues, so even if you keep receiving the same cards, it’s not necessarily an issue, it just means you need to try and be a bit more creative each time. The designated scout flips the first word card over and reads it aloud, which becomes the clue word for the first of four rounds. By mutual agreement, the players may choose to use the alternate word on the word card. The Personal Slate includes a reproduction of the game board, which provides a consistent orientation for all players. Each player then associates from 1 to 10 cards in the tableau with the clue word, by marking the associated card positions on the Personal Slate with a cross. [32]

Multiple versions of the game have been published, with minor updates to the equipment included with the original edition in 2012 and again in 2021. If all players find the storyteller's image, or if no player finds it, the storyteller scores no points and the other players each score 2 points. In any other case, the storyteller scores three points as does any player who has found the storyteller’s image.

3 Player Dixit

The storyteller then shuffles the image cards received and reveals them randomly in the spaces numbered 1 to 12 on the scoreboard.

Unfold and place the scoreboard in the middle of the table. Each player chooses a voting board and then places the rabbit of the corresponding color on the 0 space of the score- board. The 84 image cards are shuffled and 6 are dealt to each player. The remaining image cards form the draw pile.

Scoring

My recommendation is to buy the Oddysey, as it contains the game pieces helpful* in playing a game and a manual. Then if your niece likes the game you could buy the others for additional cards.
