As I said earlier it is a mature scent and smells far more expensive than it is this scent suggests refinement, Independence and style rather than just a fashion. My first impression is that of a perfume made in Ireland; Fraoch by BRIAN VINCENT - not in the Fragrantica data base. This is Aromatics Elixir, slightly more low key and "behaved", but beautiful in its own right because of it.

Having just forked out a goodly wedge to test the first formula against the latest one, and being someone who would usually hold to the pre-oakmoss IFRA restrictions formulae being far superior, I'm going to say that the Gentleman's Collection version really does stand well alongside the earlier bottle. The funny thing is, by conventional perfume standards they’re mixed up with A900 and Aromatics Elixir. The all-men’s brand was launched in 1964 by Estée Lauder and her husband Joseph, with the eponymous Aramis (which I’ve reviewed here) as the first fragrance in the range. Immediately upon spraying I get the civet which smells a bit farty farmyard but it quickly disapates and gets in to the spicy woody rose. I'd even argue that certain turned bottles may seem a bit more animalic because of whatever chemical degradation had done to the bases: it's just a theory.I'm also able to pick the deep notes of amber, patchouli and sandalwood which gives it a fresh clean cologne with a slight floral blend but nothing that would resemble a feminine perfume. The appeal is all to do with skin chemistry for me - which means my skin type, which is oily, I guess, and seems to eat up certain perfumes, reducing them to less than their parts, and do something to others that goes so far beyond how they smell to me on clothes or cardboard strips. I am so happy I've tried this one I think it definitely takes it's place among the classics for men. is one of many films with Lars Eidinger which is not necessarily one of his best, if you compare it with Maren Ade's (Toni Erdmann) wonderful "Alle anderen".

Be warned, however - while the civet note is intoxicating and subtly animalic if Aramis 900 is applied with restraint, it is almost fecal if over-sprayed. A900’s basenotes, which definitely include a healthy dose of patchouli (as in AE) are modulated by vetiver. The thing is, I always loved AE on others, and I think it smell absolutely wonderful on ladies, but never was bold enough to pull it on myself. Aramis 900 is, in my opinion, a very underrated fragrance by a master French perfumer which is a refined classic of masculine perfumery.Fresh citrus and crushed herbs that turn into a musky, ALMOST musty, rose, and finally, the herbaceous and civet-y woodiness. Well after about 30 minutes, Aramis 900 calmed down to the beauty I remembered from the past and remained with me for the entire day…. While we strive to provide accurate and helpful information, we cannot guarantee the complete accuracy or reliability of the AI-generated pros and cons. Not one that makes its presence known by screeching up your nostrils, but one that makes you turn your head when someone wearing it walks past. I like to think of Bernard Chant as the father of the dry and tart chypre, full of aldehydes, leather and patchouli, but softened by floral notes, for which he is an advocate.
