If you want to check the colour of the record before you purchase, I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Certain items can take longer to source than the estimated week, particularly during busy trading periods and may take longer to arrive at our warehouse. Transport yourself to the heart of the British indie rock scene with this classic record that will have you singing along and feeling every beat. elsewhere, there were grim tales of girls whod ended up on the streets (she dont do major credit cards, i doubt she does receipts sun goes down) and glorious swipes at the rocknroll clones that arose on the back of the great garage rock boom of 2002 (yeah i'd like to tell you all my problems/you're not from new york city, you're from rotherham fake tales of san francisco). Breathless, hyperbolic praise was piled upon the Arctic Monkeys and their Bdebut album, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not, an instant phenomenon without peer.

turned out to be one of the all time classic AC/DC records, both with original howler Bon Scott and his Geordie successor. Critics hugely praised the album for its depiction of youth British Culture and for resurging British indie music that had waned after the 1990s.

Despite their tender years--or perhaps because of them--with 'Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not,' Arctic Monkeys found a new and unique way to chronicle the rushes of youth, and in doing so created a classic take on a stage of life we all experience. When Whatever People Say I Am hit the streets in January 2006, it sold a gobsmacking 118,501 copies within its first week of release, which not only made it the fastest selling debut ever, but it sold more than the rest of the Top 20 combined a remarkable achievement by any measure. Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not became the UK's fastest selling debut album, selling more than 360,000 copies in its first week.

I could hear in their sound both the Libertines and Franz Ferdinand, bands which were by then well established. No matter where you are in your life, this album will always make sense and resonate, and that is Arctic Monkeys’ true achievement. Let me get this off my chest first: The Arctic Monkeys share exactly two common traits with The Beatles and Oasis - They're all British, and they're all rock bands. I understand the Oasis one a little better, as they are a more recent band, and Whatever People Say I am, Thats What I am Not has a similar quality to the first two Oasis albums, in that its hard to believe a band can burst onto the scene already sounding this polished and this distinct, and drop an album that is so solid front to back.A lot of my friends and I used to go out having blared this through our hi-fi's at uni when it came out and it always set us up for a good night out. And once we’ve found that gem of a record, we do everything we can to help you appreciate the music. All of those bands have great albums and are some of my current favorites, but they aren't really traditional "rock" albums per se. What I like the most is that you can train your ear to listen to any of the parts of this band - the drumming is solid (far more so than say, Franz Ferdinand), each song is driven by terrific guitars and bass that will stay in your head as long as the lyrics will. For a debut - 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not' was very strong, and there was even better releases to follow.
