The police refuse to act and then Pip finds connections between her stalker and a local serial killer. She’s already lashed out twice with regard to Max and while first-book Pip probably wouldn’t have, I can see how in the stress of the moment Pip might have the idea to frame Max. When the police refuse to act on her behalf, Pip does the thing she is best at, she investigates herself. As most people will know, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder has been my favourite book of all time ever since its release. The depictions of the hallucinations, the PTSD response, were too frequent and repetitive, and I did not find them disturbing or shocking enough from a narrative point of view.

he already has been through so much for Pip from rehashing the trauma from his brothers murder to helping her through the case of Child Brunswick in the previous book. If you read my blog at any time during 2020 you’ve probably stumbled across at least one post in which I raved about this series. But two dead pigeons and five headless chalked stick figures make everything stomach-wrenching for her. I know a few reviewers have questioned whether it is right that Pip frames Max Hastings for the murder of Jason Bell who is actually the DT killer.

Besides the main storyline, Pip gets contacted by a woman who introduces her to another case that she then takes up on. So, Pip and Ravi realize that yes, someone is stalking her and they have been right outside her house. At that point, the book takes a turn in a direction I don't even recognize for this series and its characters. She closed her eyes and made a new silent promise to him, because he had chosen her and she had chosen him: they were going to get away with it. There's one point where you think the story could be over, but then a huge twists sends it spinning off in a whole new direction.

I probably repeated myself a bunch of times, but as stated before this is a rant 😂 sorry 🙈 To sum up, this was partly a huge disappointment and a terrible way to close off such a great series IMO.This is another issue I had with this book, so I'll say it and wait for you to crucify me: I'M SICK AND TIRED OF THE ANTAGONISTS AND THEIR CRIMES (and y'all know who they are). I don't even have words right now to describe why this just didn't work for me without spoiling the entire plot. When it came to her, she made a bigger sacrifice that only she could do to save everyone from falling into the grave which she dug for herself. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. In books 1 and 2, we follow Pip as she investigates, talks to suspects, gathers clues, and makes deductions.

I read books about killers and psychopaths, about the mischievous and the murderous; I delve into the minds of the mad and the bad, unreliable narrators whose grip on reality is slender.Long story short, Pip finds out the identity of the actual murderer, when he manages to abduct her and plans to make her his sixth victim. And so starts – after a slow opening – is a thrilling and tense game of cat and mouse between Pip and the killer – and that was the strength of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder at the end of the day. I find it very weird that so many reviewers are applauding Pip and saying the ending was great, when the characters all made such stupid choices and literally did the very thing that the first book exposed as reprehensible (framing someone for a murder they didn’t commit! So if you are looking for a Young Adult crime thriller, read which has a knotty plotline and a twisted mystery to solve, and which has well-developed characters for whom you can fall in love.
